On Partisanship in Politics and Divisiveness in the Public Debate

“It is not in numbers, but in unity, that our great strength lies”

Does it seem that when the results of a primary election, such as Joe Lieberman in Connecticut, is held up as emboldening the terrorists because it shows a divided nation, has partisanship and heated rhetoric gone too far?

Is the danger from terrorists - do they really care about a primary election - or is it from those that play up and exacerbate divisiveness instead of embracing the fundamental process of free elections and the right of the people to express their opinion? What “emboldens” the terrorists more: staying true to the values this nation was founded on, or constantly using fear of them as a weapon to quash any dissent?
