I started this blog with this essay. I was inspired by the notion that Paine utilized the cutting-edge technology of his day to communicate his ideas to the widest audience possible. The “wordpress” of his day, if you will. He firmly believed in the power of communicating ideas at the grassroots level and letting it percolate through the population and, indeed, help change the world.
Paine realized that radical change was possible and the agent of that change was available to the common man – a radical idea in its time. What would Paine think of the tools available today for grassroots communication and social networking? Do we have the power to begin the world all over again? Do we want to?
